Die Firma AEG ließ 1908 des Wort "Fön" als Wort- und Bildmarke eintragen. Im deutschen Sprachgebrauch wird der ursprüngliche Markenname "Fön" für alle Haartrockner verwendet. Entgegen vielen Quellen, die für die Einführung der ersten Handföne nach 1920 angeben, haben wir hier einen Beleg für eine deutlich frühere Herstellung.

The AEG did register in 1908 the word "hair dryer" as a word and device mark. In the German language is the original brand name "hair dryer" used for all hair dryers. Contrary to many sources that provide for the introduction of the first handheld hair dryers after 1920, we have evidence for a much earlier production.

L'AEG fait proteger en 1908 le mot "Fön" comme une marque. Dans la langue allemande le nom original de marque "Fön" est utilisé pour tous les sèche-cheveux. Contrairement à de nombreuses sources qui fournissent pour la première introduction d'un l'sèche-cheveux a main après 1920, nous avons ici la preuve pour une production bien plus tôt.
